Brian Vasa, Clerk

Brian has been the Conservation Agent for the Town of Plympton since 2019. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2004 with a degree in Natural Resource Economics. He went on to complete national service with AmeriCorps NCCC, Maine Conservation Corps, Gulf Recovery Corps, and other service opportunities. Bitten by the travel bug, he participated in research with spotted owls in New Mexico, sea turtles in the Virgin Islands, and various other projects before working with the Massachusetts DCR as a conservation biologist.

After working at the federal and state levels, Brian enjoys working in a municipal setting where the opportunities to make direct positive impacts on the immediate community are much likelier. Educating people and helping them understand the Wetlands Protection Act and town bylaws is a constant source of fulfillment. The work involved with being an agent is always a challenge, as there is always something new to learn with each unique project that comes through, but that guarantees that the work will stay fresh and interesting for years to come. He hopes to make more agents aware of MSMCP’s vast resources and trainings, as well as the many interesting and fun programming opportunities. Brian loves hiking, kayaking, camping, traveling the world, and raising a flock of rambunctious ducks!
